Skip the heat

Heat is what kills brushed cotton. Wash cold, dry in shade, and never tumble a flannel unless the label begs you to.

Press, don't iron flat

A warm iron on the reverse keeps the nap soft. Press the collar and cuffs; leave the body alone.

First wash sheds a little lint. After that, a good flannel only gets softer.
