Dust, wipe, wax: a simple routine that keeps wood glowing.
Solid wood ages well when it gets a little attention. This routine keeps tables, frames and sideboards glowing for years.
Dust weekly with a dry cloth
Dust is fine grit, and wiping with a damp cloth grinds it in. Use a dry, soft cloth and follow the grain so marks stay invisible.
Wipe spills straight away
Water rings come from standing water, not from wiping. Blot spills, then wipe with a wrung cloth and dry the spot after.
Keep it out of harsh sun
Strong sun through glass dries and fades one side first. A rug, a curtain or simply turning the piece now and then keeps the tone even.
Feed the finish twice a year
A thin coat of furniture wax or oil, buffed after twenty minutes, fills micro scratches and deepens the colour. Test under the top first.
Lift, never drag
Joints loosen when a table walks across the floor. Lift with two people, check the bolts once a year, and tighten what has worked loose.
