Made the slow way

Tailoring and ready-to-wear, cut to be worn — and altered — for years.

Why we half-canvas

Why we half-canvas

Inside the chest of every jacket sits a layer of wool and horsehair canvas, stitched to the cloth rather than glued. It lets the lapel roll, and over months of wear it moulds to the wearer.

It takes longer to make. It is also why a good jacket looks better in its third year than its first.

What we hold to

Our Cloth

Ask about fabric and care in store.

Canvas, not glue

Half-canvassed jackets that shape to you and keep their line.

Room to alter

Generous seams and open hems so every piece can be finished to you.

Pressed by hand

Every piece is pressed and checked before it is packed.

From bolt to hanger

The path every jacket takes.

  1. 01

    The cloth

Bolts checked for weight, handle and flaws before a pattern is laid.

  2. 02

    The chalk

Patterns drawn onto the cloth by hand, matching stripes and checks.

  3. 03

    The cut

Each piece cut with shears, one layer at a time.

  4. 04

    The press

Shaped with steam and pressed by hand before it is hung.

Built to be kept

We would rather sell one jacket that is worn for ten years than three that are worn for a season. So we cut with extra cloth in the seams, leave trousers unhemmed and answer every sizing question before an order is placed.
