The leather we use

Our hides are vegetable-tanned and full-grain: the strongest outer layer, left uncorrected so the natural marks stay. Vegetable tanning takes weeks rather than hours and gives leather that darkens and softens with use instead of cracking.

Italic Marqueemarquee

Leather that travels

Leather that travels

Waxed leather is made for the road: scuffs rub back into the grain with a thumb, and every trip leaves a little more colour in it.

Brand Storybrand-story

Your OWN story: a photograph (or a film) and the words beside it like a spread, or the photo across the top — heading falls back to the store tagline. For one product, use `products/spotlight`

Slow on purpose

Slow on purpose

A bag here starts as a whole hide on the cutting table and leaves as a finished piece from the same pair of hands. Nothing is glued where it can be stitched, and nothing is painted where it can be burnished.

We make fewer bags so that each one can take the time it needs: a day for a woven tote, most of a week for a structured top-handle.

Features Gridfeatures-columns

Three or four columns divided by hairlines — a fine gilt icon, a serif title, a line

What goes into it

Full-grain leather

The top layer of the hide, never sanded or corrected, so it marks, darkens and lasts.

Solid brass hardware

Buckles, rings and locks in solid brass that keep their weight and soften in colour.

Cotton-canvas lining

A tightly woven lining that takes daily wear and can be brushed clean.

Care for decades

A care card in every box and a bag built to be conditioned, not replaced.

Client Notestestimonials

Client notes as cards on a linen band: stars, the words in the serif, the client (photo or a gilt monogram) and the piece they bought, linked. The head shows the store's Queek rating, or the average of the notes' stars. Arrows and a hairline gauge page the cards past three; a phone swipes them.

  • I have carried it every weekday for a year. The corners are still sharp and the leather has turned a deeper cognac.

The Methodsteps

How it is done, in order — numbered stages along a hairline (a fitting, an order, a ritual)

How a bag is made

Every piece passes through the same four benches before it leaves the workshop.

  1. 01

    Cutting the hide

Each panel is marked and cut by hand from full-grain leather, reading the hide for its strongest parts.

  2. 02

    Saddle stitching

Two needles, one waxed linen thread, every stitch pulled tight by hand — it holds even if one is cut.

  3. 03

    Edge painting

Edges are sanded, painted and burnished in layers until they are smooth and sealed.

  4. 04

    Finishing the hardware

Solid brass fittings are set and checked, then the bag is conditioned and wrapped.

The Filmfilm

The house on film. cinema: the film edge to edge, looping silently behind a scrim, the words low on the left in white, a button and a round play control that opens it with sound. framed: on paper, the words beside the film set in a mount. A YouTube or Vimeo link shows the poster and plays in the viewer; with only a poster the section stands as a still.
